The client is an award winning designer and manufacturer of UHF radio systems. The brief was to liaise with the clients electronics and radio engineers to design a compact Pager Terminal with fast travel data entry keypad and backlit two line LCD screen. The terminal needed to be easily be re-configured for desktop and wall mounting. The client had a strong liking for an early styling concept and this was a key factor in being able to launch the product at a forthcoming trade show.

The first stage was to meet with the development team and agree the placing of major components to achieve an ergonomic and practical layout. The design was future proofed by allowing for additional PCBs and components. This specification was used to prepare CAD schematic drawings allowing all parties to work collaboratively around a common internal specification. This had the advantage of compressing the project timescale still further. The design was developed in several stages including CAD visuals, prototypes and approvals testing. The mould tools were manufactured from CAD data and control drawings. The product has been in production for over ten years and has recently been re-equipped for RoHS compliance.
