This is a SOMA puzzle made up of nine unique brick pieces which can be assembled to make a cube. Each brick is made of three smaller cubes joined together along an edge or face. I was told there are nearly 900 ways to make a cube from these nine pieces and by colouring the cubes in a cruciform pattern this was reduced to three. The task was to create all nine pieces as injection moulded parts using straightforward open and shut injection moulding tooling in such a way that all the parts could be assembled and coloured correctly. The components were finalised and CAD data issued.
