The client is a world wide label in the fashion industry and is widely regarded as a manufacturer of stylish, high quality fashion accessories and personal effects. The client was developing several new product ranges and saw a potential for a collection of personal travel cases and presentation cases for these new ranges. The client did not have spare capacity in its own product development team and required a designer to assist.

The client had prepared a series of concept sketches and a description of the unique features the cases would have. Their own manufacturing team would take the products into production. The brief was to develop the sketches to a series of visual and mechanical prototypes for a range of three elliptical metal cases. The cases were to contain a new range of spectacles, writing instruments and a gentlemans personal grooming kit.

The first stage was to prepare CAD models of the blocks and establish the most space efficient layout and reduce the overall size shown in the initial sketch layouts. Once this was established the designs were prototyped to simulate pressings and elastomer inserts with discrete magnet closures. The models were supported by detailed drawings.
