The client is a well known brand name in coarse angling with an extensive range of pole accessories. Part of this range was a bung which attached the end of the elastic inside the pole. Less experienced anglers found this method awkward because it involved cutting and knotting the elastic accurately.

The client had sketched a concept for a bung with an interchangeable winder. This would enable every angler to easily adjust the length of their elastic from the winder and also very quickly swap the grade of elastic in their pole to suit the target species.

The brief was to design a range of pole bungs and winders that would be interchangeable within the performance range of each other. The parts would be sold in sets and needed to include a retractor tool to withdraw the bung from inside the pole. This would require a 'blind fit' bayonet engagement. The parts were designed for open and shut injection moulding tooling and snap fit assembly. CAD data was issued for tooling in conjunction with control drawings.
