The client is a world leader in the field of automated traffic data collection. The brief was to design a 2U height enclosure in collaboration with the clients own electronic and software engineers for a new version of their ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) Highway Detection Unit. This type of equipment gathers real time data about traffic flow and vehicle by Vehicle data including count, speed, length, headway and gap. The enclosure contains a battery backup and additional processing and memory capability to enable the unit to operate independantly for up to five days in the event of a power failure.

The design was developed from sketches into 3D CAD. The parts were manufactured from CAD data and control drawings.
