The client was an entrepreneur with a product concept for a Personal Paging System for hearing impaired users. The product had been in production for several years and during this time the client had been buying and rebranding a Pillow Vibrator unit from a competitor.
The design brief was to design and develop a Pillow Vibrator with the minimum investment in tooling and requiring the minimu assembly cost. The client had already sourced a proprietary motor and eccentric and wished to assemble the unit in the UK.
This was achieved by manufacturing a single clam shell moulding that would be used in pairs to snap together around the motor. Several concept designs were prepared using 3D CAD and the chosen design refined and issued as CAD data.
